My Important Documents Review

TW: Talking about cancer, death and organising paperwork for it.

My Important Documents

The last last year has made me realise how it’s so important to sort out your paperwork. It makes life easier for you but also your loved ones in the future when maybe you aren’t well or have sadly passed away.

My Mum passed away a last year after a 2 year battle with cancer. Her paperwork was easy in some ways and difficult in others.

I have loved Pretty Perfect Products for over 4 years and they brought out the My Important Documents binder just a few days after my mum died and I felt that it was the right timing to sort out my paperwork.

With the My Important Documents, you get the A4 black binder which has labels that you can add to plastic pockets so that you can contain paperwork like you will, certificates, insurance policies and utilities.

Also included is the ‘A guide for when I’m gone’ booklet which has lots of useful pages where you can record information like power of attorney, bank accounts, beneficiaries, funueral arrangements and more.

This is also so useful if you want to record any wishes you have that you want to be considered.

The binder has the words ‘My Important Documents’ written in gold on the side and the front to help you as well as others that wouldn’t normally have any idea of what your possessions are, to instantly recognise your important documents.

My Important Documents binder

Although this might come across as morbid, it is more about being prepared and having access to things you or others may need.

Here are some examples that you could include in the binder:

  • Gas/ electricity bills.
  • Water bills.
  • Council tax bills.
  • Internet and phone bills.
  • Mortgage/ rent paperwork.
  • Appliance warranties and manuals.
  • Home insurance.
  • Contents insurance.
  • Car insurance.
  • Life insurance.
  • Health insurance.
  • Insurance claim history.
  • Bank statements.
  • Loan aggreements.
  • Savings paperworks.
  • Self-employment paperwork.
  • HMRC paperwork.
  • Car logbook.
  • MOT/ Service paperwork.
  • Medical paperwok.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Marriage certificate.
  • Will/ Power of attorney.
  • Education paperwork.
  • School paperwork.
  • Childrens paperwork.

As much as this could be quite triggering to deal with some of these things, I think it will really help you feel more organised and have some comfort that others will be able to find things easily.

The binder can be used for more of the general and day to day life admin and the booklet can be for being prepared for the future.

I have been thinking about this the last few months especially when dealing with arrangements and if you feel that things might change in the future, you could use post-it notes so that it makes it easy to change.

I know that this is quite a niche product but I think it is a very worthwhile product to have in your life and could give you a bit of piece of mind.
